Baboons

We got off to an early morning start. Yes, the baboons are out; they kept a close eye on us while we were having breakfast and got close every so often looking for something in the way of food to grab. While cleaning up, one of the baboons grabbed a towel and took off only to drop it a few feet away as he realized it contained nothing edible. Between cleaning up and keeping an eye on the baboons, we were able to get underway by 7:30.

The countryside is still very similar to the US southwest.  However, the animals we are beginning to see are not. On our travels today we spotted springbok, ostriches and oryx.

We arrived at our destination mid afternoon and vegged the rest of the day. We camp here for two nights. Tomorrow morning we get up early and are to be on the bus by 5:40. We are making our way to Dune 45 in the Namib desert to view the early morning sunrise.

We saw no baboons around the campsite today, but apparently they are around, along with several other species of African animals.

That’s it for today. Stay tuned for tomorrow's update.
